A casting supplier can\u2019t quote accurately against a weldment drawing; they need a functional specification that allows geometry optimization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Making the Business Case<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The question isn\u2019t cast vs. fabricated \u2014 it\u2019s what does your volume justify.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Start with three numbers: annual volume, current fabrication cost per unit (including all labor, not just material), and estimated tooling investment from a foundry quote.
